Architecture/Buildings

In the past there has been many architectures who shocked the world by constructing buildings that were out of anyone’s mind. And also there many more architectures now whose designs/plans are far beyond, even the constructers couldn’t make it possible to build such an amazing and mysterious buildings. One of the example is Zaha hadid whose most of the ideas couldn’t be done or practically by the constructers who refused to build such a fictional design.

he history and cultural heritage of the notre dame cathedral serves as the starting point for trnsfrm‘s design. in respect of the building’s 800 year history, the concept is conceived of first and foremost as a place of worship. to replace the destroyed roof and spire, the architects propose a contemporary sculpture made from colored glass. the idea is partly inspired by the new basilica of our lady guadalupe in mexico city by the late architect pedro ramirez vazquez and the galleria vittorio emanuele in milan. here a huge roof structure embraces the people inside.

the sculpture is made out of stained glass, in this case, fixed in a steel frame. as a result, during the day, the stained glass sculpture brings sunlight into the cathedral. at night, the interior lighting of the cathedral creates the opposite effect. the sculpture becomes a ‘glow in the dark’ point of reference on the parisian skyline.

Water is a core part of all existence and hence needed due credit, a rainwater harvesting tower was created in San Jose California as a borewell water extraction system. In an increasingly growing world that relies heavily on the usage of clean drinkable water, the tower stands as a symbol of innovation. The design on the harvesting tower is synchronous with the elements of water and hence becomes a view to behold. The attraction the visual of the tower serves proves effective in conveying the importance of water conservation in a climatically impacted world.

The structure of the building appears to be like a waterfall frozen in time, the clear white marble of the structure and the movement of the framework expresses the elements of water. One could look at the structure poetically to show how the waterfall that’s meant to appear as a waterfall is now in current day stuck in time, it isn’t all flowing anymore and we perhaps need to look at all water like that now; as a finite amount that will eventually run out if we don’t take due.
